For someone who didn’t really know the story, the details of what happened really interested me
Narrative
During the 1972 Munich Olympics, an American sports television crew finds themselves forced to cover a hostage crisis involving Israeli athletes. The performances are compelling, the comedy is in the right places, and the pacing and length don’t leave you looking for the exit before the credits roll.
They did a solid job of not telegraphing plot points
Some people will find the lack of a change of scenery tiresome, but I think it worked in this case. I think they wanted you to feel like the control room was your world and that you felt like they were there on this eventful day.
It makes you think, without being preachy
They did a nice job of touching on the political and emotional elements. The mixing of footage from the actual event, including broadcast footage, definitely draws you more into the experience.
A nice touch
While it’s not a film I really intend to watch over and over again, it’s a very well-made piece that I would recommend to friends who enjoy these kinds of films.
