Land grabs threaten to destroy the declining dynasty
Narrative
When the vast Lawson cattle station fails to produce an heir, Australia’s rival factions see a chance to seize control. The series was filmed in the Northern Territory and South Australia in locations so remote they are barely inhabited – let alone shown on screen.
We really enjoyed this series
Locations include the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park – with special permission from the Traditional Owners – and Tipperary Station, a real, working cattle station that is so large it has its own airfield and school. Great actors.
Anna Torv is wonderful as a complex female adversary
We loved Robert Taylor in Longmeier, he makes a great grumpy old guy in a Western style. We loved her in Fringe but didn’t realise she was Australian because she lost her accent.
Same for Michael Dorman, who was in For All Mankind
It’s amazing how actors from the UK and Australia/New Zealand can drop their accents and sound so American. It’s nice to have shows set in nature instead of concrete cities and constant violence.
If you liked Yellowstone, you’ll like this
I really hope there’s a second season.
